TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS 2025
In all games played rules and regulations from the Norwegian Basketball Association applies with the exception of the following:
TOURNAMENT FORM
In the U12-U17 and wheelchair classes, the teams are divided into pools of 3-4 teams, followed by playoffs. All teams progress from the pool play, and all teams are guaranteed 3 games.
EASY BASKET
In the easybasket classes U8-U11, the teams are divided into pools so that all teams get 3-4 games. Depending on the number of registered teams, it may be appropriate to set up individual matches against teams in other pools and year classes. No results are recorded.
U12
In the U12 class, a cup is played with play-offs. Matches on small courts with low curves. Some matches can be played on large courts. There are four players on the court. (5 players on a large court.) Efforts must be made to ensure that all players on a team get to play the same amount of time. It is "forced substitution", i.e. the player who plays the most only gets to play one period more than the player who plays the least.
U13
In the U13 class, a cup is played with play-offs. Adaptation rules for the class U14 are used.
BASKETBALL
U8-U13: 5's ball
U14 boys - U17 boys and Wheelchair: 7's ball
U14 girls - U17 girls: 6's ball
GAME LENGHT
Playing time in classes U13 to U17 and wheelchairs is 2x12 minutes of effective time. 3 minute break.
In classes U11 and U12, 6x4 minutes of ineffective time are played. 1 min break between periods.
In classes U8 MIX, U9, U10, 4x5 minutes of ineffective time are played. 1 min break between periods
Effective time is when you stop time along the way. Ineffective time means that the clock is not stopped when the game stops.
PERSONAL FOUL
U13-U17: a player will foul out after 4 personal fouls.
TEAM FOUL
In classes with 2x12 minute playing time, shots are practiced on the 8th team foul.
TIME-OUT
In classes with 2x12 minutes playing time, the teams are allowed 1 time-out per team per half.
EXTRA PERIODS
Extra periods last 3 minutes with one time-out per team. Team fouls carry over into extra periods.
SHOOT CLOCK
The 24-second rule is used in classes from U14 and is administered by the referees.
PLAYING ELIGIBILITY
A player can only play for one team in the same age group (even if the club participates with multiple teams in that age group). It is allowed to play for multiple teams in other (older) age groups, but the game schedule will not take this into consideration.
TEAM ROOSTER
Team rooster are entered digitally on the team account by the teams themselves. The deadline is 1 week before the start of the tournament.
PROTESTS
In the event of a protest, a written protest must be delivered to the main secretariat no later than 20 minutes after the end of the match. A protest fee of NOK 1,000 is refunded if the protest is upheld. The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
